Overall, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, the amount of fire-fighting vehicles exported in Scandinavia soared to X units, picking up by 19% compared with the year before. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +20.6% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 77%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 105% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Finland prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 86% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Norway (X units), making up a 9.5% share of total exports. Sweden (X units) and Denmark (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Finland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the fire-fighting vehicles exports, with a CAGR of +13.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Norway (+10.3%) and Denmark (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Sweden (-20.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Finland (+35 p.p.) and Norway (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Sweden (-36 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Finland ($X) remains the largest fire-fighting vehicle supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($X), with a 2.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Finland totaled +13.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sweden (-15.1% per year) and Denmark (+3.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per unit), while Norway ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X units of fire-fighting vehicles were imported in Scandinavia; declining by -44.8% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 84% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle imports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 54%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Denmark (X units) was the main importer of fire-fighting vehicles, achieving 41% of total imports. Norway (X units) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Finland (16%), Sweden (16%) and Iceland (8.1%).

Imports into Denmark increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Finland (+13.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +13.0% from 2012-2021. Iceland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Norway (-16.4%) and Sweden (-17.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Denmark (+33 p.p.), Finland (+14 p.p.) and Iceland (+8.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Sweden (-26.5 p.p.) and Norway (-27.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Denmark ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fire-fighting vehicles in Scandinavia, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Norway, with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Denmark amounted to +11.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Sweden (-20.7% per year) and Norway (-18.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Scandinavia stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -25.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 88% against the previous year.
