In value terms, fluoropolymers exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +102.5% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Finland was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 58% of total exports. Denmark (X tons) held a 28% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Sweden (14%).

Exports from Finland increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Denmark (+16.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Denmark emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +16.8% from 2012-2021. Sweden experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Denmark and Finland increased by +16 and +4.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Finland ($X) remains the largest fluoropolymers supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($X), with an 8.7% share of total exports.

In Finland, fluoropolymers exports expanded at an average annual rate of +15.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Sweden (+0.1% per year) and Denmark (+7.8% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of fluoropolymers imported in Scandinavia soared to X tons, with an increase of 21% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 26%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fluoropolymers imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Denmark represented the major importer of fluoropolymers in Scandinavia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 53% of total imports in 2021. Sweden (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Finland (X tons). All these countries together held near 46% share of total imports.

Denmark experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of fluoropolymers. Finland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Sweden (-2.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
