Sweden was the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 84% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons), constituting a 13% share of total exports. Finland (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Sweden decreased at an average annual rate of -14.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Norway (+15.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +15.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Finland (-36.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Sweden (+18 p.p.) and Norway (+13 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Finland (-30.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Sweden ($X) emerged as the largest glass fibre fabrics supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Norway ($X), with a 9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Sweden stood at -13.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Norway (+12.1% per year) and Finland (-23.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Scandinavia stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 38% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 39%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+19.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Scandinavia

In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre fabrics were imported in Scandinavia; waning by -7% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Sweden (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the largest importers of glass fibre fabrics in 2022, reaching near 45% and 39% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Finland (X tons), mixing up a 16% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Norway (with a CAGR of +4.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
