In 2021, purchases abroad of glass fibre filaments increased by 10% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports enjoyed a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 197% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, glass fibre filament imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 154% against the previous year.
