In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Scandinavia starch glue market, when its value increased by 97% to $X. Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Sweden represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 72% of total exports. Denmark (X tons) took a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Finland (5.3%).

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches exports, with a CAGR of -1.1% from 2012 to 2021. Denmark (-1.3%) and Finland (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, starch glue imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Sweden (X tons) represented the main importer of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches, creating 68% of total imports. Finland (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Denmark (11%) and Norway (9.8%).

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches imports, with a CAGR of +14.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Denmark (+4.6%) and Norway (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Finland (-8.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
