In 2021, shipments abroad of grape juice (single strength) increased by 26% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after five years of decline. In general, exports showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 78%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, grape juice (single strength) exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a resilient increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Sweden dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 98% of total exports in 2021. Denmark (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Sweden increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Denmark (+22.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Denmark emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +22.1% from 2012-2021. While the share of Sweden (+13 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the largest grape juice (single strength) supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Denmark ($X), with a 0.7% share of total exports.

In Sweden, grape juice (single strength) exports increased at an average annual rate of +18.0% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 72% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted buoyant growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Denmark amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+6.7%).

In 2021, supplies from abroad of grape juice (single strength) decreased by -12.4% to X tons, falling for the fifth year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 37%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, grape juice (single strength) imports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 21%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Norway prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 88% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Iceland (X tons), making up a 5.5% share of total imports. The following importers - Finland (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - each finished at a 5.9% share of total imports.

Norway was also the fastest-growing in terms of the grape juice (single strength) imports, with a CAGR of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021. Iceland (-1.1%), Finland (-16.4%) and Denmark (-39.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Norway and Iceland increased by +69 and +4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Norway ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported grape juice (single strength) in Scandinavia, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Iceland ($X), with a 6.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Norway was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Iceland (-5.8% per year) and Denmark (-30.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
