In 2022, the Scandinavia animal guts market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In value terms, animal guts exports declined significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 56%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) was the main exporter of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals, mixing up 64% of total exports. Finland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Norway (17%).

Sweden experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals. At the same time, Finland (+4.5%) and Norway (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +4.5% from 2012-2022. Finland (+4.4 p.p.) and Norway (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Sweden saw its share reduced by -6.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

Sweden, with a CAGR of +1.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

The export price in Scandinavia stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, imports of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals in Scandinavia totaled X tons, surging by 3% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, animal guts imports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) and Finland (X tons) represented the largest importers of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals in Scandinavia, together resulting at approx. 74% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons), comprising a 26% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +1.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, Norway ($X), Sweden ($X) and Finland ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 12%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
