The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Sweden represented the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at 57% of total exports. Finland (X tons) held a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Denmark (17%). Norway (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the knives, scissors and blades exports, with a CAGR of +3.7% from 2012 to 2021. Denmark experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Norway (-3.5%) and Finland (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Sweden increased by +15 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, knife and scissors imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Sweden (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) were the major importers of knives, scissors and blades in Scandinavia, together recording approx. 67% of total imports. Finland (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Norway (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 32% share of total imports. Iceland (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
