In 2022, shipments abroad of lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) decreased by -43% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Sweden represented the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which amounted to 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Finland (X units), generating an 18% share of total exports. Norway (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) exports from Sweden stood at -5.0%. Finland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Norway (-1.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 42%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
