The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) was the largest exporter of lentils in Scandinavia, constituting 100% of total export.
Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lentils exports, with a CAGR of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Sweden ($X) also remains the largest lentil supplier in Scandinavia.

In 2022, approx. X tons of lentils were imported in Scandinavia; surging by 13% compared with the year before. Overall, imports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, lentil imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 31%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Sweden represented the largest importer of lentils in Scandinavia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 74% of total imports in 2022. Finland (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Norway (X tons). All these countries together held near 26% share of total imports.
Imports into Sweden increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Finland (+15.8%) and Norway (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +15.8% from 2012-2022. Finland (+5.5 p.p.) and Sweden (+3.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Norway saw its share reduced by -8.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Sweden ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lentils in Scandinavia, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($X), with a 14% share of total imports.
In Sweden, lentil imports increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Norway (+5.9% per year) and Finland (+10.3% per year).
