In 2022, the amount of mobile phones exported in Scandinavia stood at X units, rising by 4.2% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 12%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mobile phone exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 11%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Sweden represented the major exporting country with an export of about X units, which amounted to 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Finland (X units) and Norway (X units), together creating a 17% share of total exports.
Sweden experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of mobile phones. Norway (-6.4%) and Finland (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Sweden increased by +33 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the largest mobile phone supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Finland ($X), with an 8.1% share of total exports.
In Sweden, mobile phone exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Finland (-16.2% per year) and Norway (-2.0% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. Export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mobile phone export price increased by +63.1% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while Finland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+4.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, mobile phone imports in Scandinavia shrank modestly to X units, with a decrease of -3.3% compared with 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 3.4%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mobile phone imports reduced to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Sweden (X units) represented the main importer of mobile phones, generating 67% of total imports. Finland (X units) held an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Norway (16%).
Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the mobile phones imports, with a CAGR of -1.2% from 2012 to 2022. Norway (-3.8%) and Finland (-9.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Sweden (+15 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Finland saw its share reduced by -14.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Sweden ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mobile phones in Scandinavia, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($X), with a 20% share of total imports.
In Sweden, mobile phone imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Norway (+0.6% per year) and Finland (-3.3% per year).
