In value terms, playing cards exports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 76%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Sweden prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 86% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons) and Finland (X tons), together generating a 14% share of total exports.

Exports from Sweden decreased at an average annual rate of -1.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Norway (+14.7%) and Finland (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +14.7% from 2012-2022. While the share of Norway (+6.1 p.p.) and Finland (+3.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Sweden (-9.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the largest playing cards supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($X), with a 9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Sweden amounted to +8.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Norway (+19.2% per year) and Finland (+2.6% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. In 2022, playing cards imports in Scandinavia soared to X tons, surging by 16% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, playing cards imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 86%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
