In 2022, after six years of growth, there was decline in the Scandinavia room deodorants market, when its value decreased by -3.7% to $X. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Sweden dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Finland (X tons), making up a 6.6% share of total exports.

In 2022, overseas purchases of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms increased by 3.9% to X tons, rising for the seventh consecutive year after three years of decline. Total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +82.1% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, room deodorants imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +108.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Sweden represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 63% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons) and Finland (X tons), together mixing up a 37% share of total imports.

Sweden experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms. At the same time, Finland (+3.0%) and Norway (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +3.0% from 2012-2022. Finland (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Sweden saw its share reduced by -2.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The import price in Scandinavia stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -6.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+3.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
