From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to preserved tomato exports from Denmark stood at +4.3%. At the same time, Norway (+105.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +105.6% from 2012-2021. Sweden experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Finland (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Norway, with a CAGR of +95.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Scandinavia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 20%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of preserved tomatoes decreased by -3.9% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 7.9%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, preserved tomato imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 18%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Sweden represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 46% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Denmark (X tons), Norway (X tons) and Finland (X tons), together making up a 52% share of total imports.
