The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, copper sanitary ware exports declined modestly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +90.7% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 43%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

In 2021, Sweden (X tons) represented the major exporter of sanitary ware and parts of copper, achieving 70% of total exports. Denmark (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Finland (8.4%). Norway (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sanitary ware and parts of copper exports, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Finland (+7.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Norway (-9.3%) and Denmark (-10.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Sweden (+36 p.p.) and Finland (+3.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Norway (-3.4 p.p.) and Denmark (-36.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest copper sanitary ware supplying countries in Scandinavia were Sweden ($X), Denmark ($X) and Finland ($X), with a combined 98% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Sweden, with a CAGR of +14.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2021, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, copper sanitary ware export price increased by +32.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 30% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper increased by 11% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, copper sanitary ware imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Denmark (X tons) was the largest importer of sanitary ware and parts of copper, making up 55% of total imports. Sweden (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Finland (X tons) and Norway (X tons). All these countries together took near 43% share of total imports. Iceland (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Iceland (with a CAGR of +27.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Denmark ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sanitary ware and parts of copper in Scandinavia, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Finland, with an 8.2% share.

In Denmark, copper sanitary ware imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (+2.8% per year) and Finland (+0.4% per year).

In 2021, the import price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
