Silicone Market Size in Scandinavia

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Scandinavia silicone market, when its value increased by 30% to $X. The total consumption indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Sweden (X tons) was the main exporter of silicones (in primary forms), comprising 67% of total exports. Norway (X tons) held a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Finland (13%).

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the silicones (in primary forms) exports, with a CAGR of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021. Finland (-7.1%) and Norway (-9.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In Sweden, silicone exports increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Norway (-22.5% per year) and Finland (-1.0% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -10.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 214%. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years.
