Overall, exports, however, saw a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 288% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, metal threading machine exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 134% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Denmark (X units) represented the largest exporter of threading or tapping machines for working metal, generating 54% of total exports. Finland (X units) held a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Sweden (20%).

Denmark experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of threading or tapping machines for working metal. At the same time, Finland (+18.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +18.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Sweden (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Finland (+21 p.p.) and Denmark (+20 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Sweden saw its share reduced by -34.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Denmark ($X) remains the largest metal threading machine supplier in Scandinavia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Finland ($X), with a 9.6% share of total exports.

In Denmark, metal threading machine exports declined by an average annual rate of -6.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Finland (+11.4% per year) and Sweden (-3.3% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Scandinavia amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 172%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while Finland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+12.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, imports of threading or tapping machines for working metal in Scandinavia shrank rapidly to X units, with a decrease of -20.6% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 67%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2020, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, metal threading machine imports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Denmark represented the largest importer of threading or tapping machines for working metal in Scandinavia, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 45% of total imports in 2021. Norway (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 24% share, followed by Sweden (21%) and Finland (6.5%). Iceland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Iceland (with a CAGR of +35.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest metal threading machine importing markets in Scandinavia were Sweden ($X), Denmark ($X) and Norway ($X), with a combined 90% share of total imports. Finland and Iceland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.9%.

Iceland, with a CAGR of +26.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 34%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell sharply in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while Denmark ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+10.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
