For the third consecutive year, Scandinavia recorded growth in overseas shipments of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages, which increased by 11% to X litres in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 20%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Sweden was the largest exporter of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages in Scandinavia, with the volume of exports reaching X litres, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Finland (X litres), committing a 27% share of total exports. Norway (X litres) took a little share of total exports.

Sweden experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages. At the same time, Norway (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Scandinavia, with a CAGR of +4.6% from 2012-2022. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
