Sweden was the largest exporter of wadding in Scandinavia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 68% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Denmark (X tons), creating a 27% share of total exports. Finland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wadding exports, with a CAGR of -1.5% from 2012 to 2021. Denmark (-3.0%) and Finland (-13.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Sweden (+8.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Finland saw its share reduced by -7.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
