The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

In 2022, overseas shipments of artificial guts (sausage skins) decreased by -1.8% to X tons for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.9% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, artificial guts exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.9% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

The Czech Republic (X tons) was the main destination for artificial guts exports from Serbia, with a 39% share of total exports. Moreover, artificial guts exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), fourfold. Russia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the Czech Republic totaled +12.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+2.1% per year) and Russia (+3.9% per year).

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the key foreign market for artificial guts (sausage skins) exports from Serbia, comprising 40% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 9.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the Czech Republic amounted to +14.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-3.9% per year) and Russia (+6.7% per year).

In 2022, the average artificial guts export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 1.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of artificial guts (sausage skins), when their volume decreased by -32.7% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, artificial guts imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of artificial guts to Serbia, accounting for a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, artificial guts imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), fivefold. Spain (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled +15.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (-4.6% per year) and Spain (+0.9% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of artificial guts (sausage skins) to Serbia, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany amounted to +14.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (-7.5% per year) and Spain (-0.7% per year).

In 2022, the average artificial guts import price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -2.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 9.5%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
