In 2022, the average borates export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 194%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Serbia

Borates imports into Serbia shrank modestly to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -2.4% on 2021. In general, imports faced a precipitous decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, borates imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovenia (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of borates imports to Serbia, together accounting for 98% of total imports.
