Non-corrugated paper box exports from Serbia stood at X tons in 2022, surging by 5.6% on 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-corrugated paper box exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +86.3% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Italy (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Croatia (X tons) were the main destinations of non-corrugated paper box exports from Serbia, together comprising 49% of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, North Macedonia, Switzerland, Romania, Montenegro and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +86.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +7.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-corrugated paper box imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Poland (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-corrugated paper box imports to Serbia, together accounting for 56% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +43.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), Turkey ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest non-corrugated paper box suppliers to Serbia, together accounting for 59% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +49.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
