Ghee Market Size in Serbia

The Serbian ghee market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, picking up by 3,083% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a significant expansion. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Ghee Production in Serbia

In value terms, ghee production shrank to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +5.7% against 2018 indices. Exports from Serbia

In 2022, approx. X tons of ghee were exported from Serbia; declining by -14.1% on the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 165%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, ghee exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 155% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Croatia (X tons), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) and Montenegro (X tons) were the main destinations of ghee exports from Serbia, with a combined 79% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bosnia and Herzegovina (with a CAGR of +21.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for ghee exported from Serbia were Croatia ($X), Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) and Montenegro ($X), with a combined 80% share of total exports.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a CAGR of +25.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average ghee export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 17% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ghee Imports

Imports into Serbia

In 2022, overseas purchases of ghee were finally on the rise to reach X tons after four years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ghee imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Serbia, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, ghee imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), sevenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Netherlands amounted to +126.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+10.3% per year) and France (0.0% per year).

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Serbia, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 12% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Netherlands amounted to +132.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+16.9% per year) and France (0.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average ghee import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -4.2% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee import price increased by +45.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 70%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.0%).
