Slovakia (X tons), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of iron or steel bridges exports from Serbia, with a combined 64% share of total exports. Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, North Macedonia and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +105.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Austria ($X) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for iron or steel bridges exported from Serbia worldwide, with a combined 60% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +144.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average iron or steel bridges export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -2.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+19.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Iron Or Steel Bridges And Bridge-Sections
Imports into Serbia
In 2022, overseas purchases of iron or steel bridges and bridge-sections increased by 74% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, faced a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 2,257% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, iron or steel bridges imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 1,211% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, North Macedonia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of iron or steel bridges to Serbia, accounting for a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, iron or steel bridges imports from North Macedonia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X tons), with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from North Macedonia stood at +2.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-6.9% per year) and India (0.0% per year).
In value terms, North Macedonia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of iron or steel bridges and bridge-sections to Serbia, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from North Macedonia amounted to +12.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+120.2% per year) and India (0.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average iron or steel bridges import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 8.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 78%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
