In 2022, overseas purchases of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified decreased by -11.1% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified supplier to Serbia, accounting for a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Greece (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Spain (X tons), with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey totaled +10.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+52.2% per year) and Spain (+33.5% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified to Serbia, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey amounted to +14.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+55.1% per year) and Spain (+39.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
