The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, plastics pipe and pipe fitting exports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Croatia (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of plastics pipe and pipe fitting exports from Serbia, with a combined 35% share of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Italy, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Romania, Germany, Montenegro and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 47%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +251.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for plastics pipe and pipe fitting exported from Serbia were Hungary ($X), Germany ($X) and Croatia ($X), together comprising 40% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Denmark, Montenegro, Romania and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

Overall, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into Serbia

In 2022, purchases abroad of plastics pipes and pipe fittings increased by 6.6% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastics pipe and pipe fitting imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Overall, import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plastics pipe and pipe fitting import price decreased by -8.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
