Porcelain Technical Ware Market Size in Serbia

In 2022, the Serbian porcelain technical ware market decreased by -0.7% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, recorded a pronounced slump. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Serbia

In 2022, porcelain technical ware exports from Serbia skyrocketed to X kg, increasing by 56% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, faced a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 220% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X kg in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, porcelain technical ware exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 289% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Montenegro (X kg) was the main destination for porcelain technical ware exports from Serbia, with a 78% share of total exports. Moreover, porcelain technical ware exports to Montenegro exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X kg), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Montenegro amounted to -1.8%.

In value terms, Montenegro ($X) remains the key foreign market for porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use exports from Serbia, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a 22% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Montenegro stood at -3.9%.

Export Prices by Country

The average porcelain technical ware export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -27.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 203%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+151.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Serbia

In 2022, approx. X tons of porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use were imported into Serbia; growing by 2.4% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 123%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, porcelain technical ware imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 115%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest porcelain technical ware supplier to Serbia, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, porcelain technical ware imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (X kg), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +11.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+38.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+7.5% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use to Serbia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+10.9% per year) and Spain (+39.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average porcelain technical ware import price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -7.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 149% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
