Over the period under review, the yield showed a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the yield increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield reached the peak level at X tons per ha in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the yield stood at a somewhat lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

The raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry harvested area in Serbia expanded markedly to X ha in 2022, growing by 7.5% against the previous year's figure. In general, the total harvested area indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its figure increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry harvested area decreased by -6.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry production reached the maximum at X ha in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the harvested area remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports from Serbia fell to X tons, shrinking by -13.7% against 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 157% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Austria (X tons), Russia (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports from Serbia, with a combined 64% share of total exports.

Overall, the export price posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Serbia

In 2022, the amount of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries imported into Serbia soared to X tons, growing by 341% compared with the year before. Overall, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 1,050%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Peru ($X) and Poland ($X) constituted the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry suppliers to Serbia, together comprising 72% of total imports. Romania, Chile, Moldova and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +668.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average import price for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -44.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 209%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+16.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
