From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+18.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of roundwood (coniferous), when their volume decreased by -39.4% to X cubic meters. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, coniferous roundwood imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of coniferous roundwood to Serbia, accounting for a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, coniferous roundwood imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X cubic meters), with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Bosnia and Herzegovina totaled -7.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+66.9% per year) and Poland (+69.0% per year).
In value terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) constituted the largest supplier of roundwood (coniferous) to Serbia, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hungary ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Bosnia and Herzegovina stood at -6.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+77.8% per year) and Poland (+72.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average coniferous roundwood import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, picking up by 28% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Hungary ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+46.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
