Tin Market Size in Serbia
The Serbian tin market declined to $X in 2022, falling by -9.2% against the previous year. In 2022, shipments abroad of tin decreased by -43.7% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 442,100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, tin exports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 645,907%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for tin exports from Serbia, with a 94% share of total exports. Moreover, tin exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the Netherlands totaled -26.5%.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the key foreign market for tin exports from Serbia, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovenia ($X), with a 6.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Netherlands totaled -10.9%.
Export Prices by Country
The average tin export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 81% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate buoyant growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+21.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Tin Imports
Imports into Serbia
In 2022, purchases abroad of tin decreased by -11.5% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 81%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, tin imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 112% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
Indonesia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of tin imports to Serbia.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +62.9%).
In value terms, Indonesia ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest tin suppliers to Serbia.
In terms of the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +68.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average tin import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 1.5% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, tin import price increased by +89.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 86%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for China stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
