In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wine of fresh grapes exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 22%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Russia (X litres) was the main destination for wine of fresh grapes exports from Serbia, with a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, wine of fresh grapes exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X litres), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Montenegro (X litres), with a 9.8% share.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) and Montenegro ($X) were the largest markets for wine of fresh grapes exported from Serbia worldwide, together comprising 70% of total exports. China, Croatia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
Croatia, with a CAGR of +19.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Serbia
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of wine of fresh grapes (except sparkling wine) decreased by -4.6% to X litres in 2022. In general, imports showed a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 9.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wine of fresh grapes imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, North Macedonia (X litres) constituted the largest wine of fresh grapes supplier to Serbia, accounting for a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, wine of fresh grapes imports from North Macedonia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Montenegro (X litres), fourfold. Hungary (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from North Macedonia stood at -5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Montenegro (+2.0% per year) and Hungary (+47.3% per year).
In value terms, North Macedonia ($X), Montenegro ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest wine of fresh grapes suppliers to Serbia, with a combined 71% share of total imports. France, Hungary, Spain and Moldova lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
Among the main suppliers, Hungary, with a CAGR of +34.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average wine of fresh grapes import price amounted to $X per litre, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per litre, leveling off in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per litre), while the price for Hungary ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
