In 2022, approx. X square meters of ceramic tiles were exported from Singapore; with an increase of 7.5% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 77%. The exports peaked at X square meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic tile exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Indonesia (X square meters) was the main destination for ceramic tile exports from Singapore, with a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, ceramic tile exports to Indonesia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Philippines (X square meters), twofold. Malaysia (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Indonesia totaled -16.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (+21.4% per year) and Malaysia (-10.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for ceramic tile exported from Singapore were Indonesia ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the Philippines ($X), together comprising 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by Oman, Taiwan (Chinese), Sri Lanka, Maldives, Australia, the United States, China, Japan, Hong Kong SAR and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Among the main countries of destination, Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +33.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average ceramic tile export price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, growing by 16% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ceramic tile export price decreased by +0.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 48%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Australia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Singapore
In 2022, supplies from abroad of ceramic tiles increased by 49% to X square meters, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X square meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic tile imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight decline. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X square meters) constituted the largest ceramic tile supplier to Singapore, accounting for a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, ceramic tile imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X square meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Malaysia (X square meters), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+1.6% per year) and Malaysia (-5.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ceramic tiles to Singapore, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+1.8% per year) and Malaysia (-7.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average ceramic tile import price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, surging by 9.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 33%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($X per square meter) and Indonesia ($X per square meter), while the price for Malaysia ($X per square meter) and China ($X per square meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
