Cumene Market Size in Singapore

For the third year in a row, the Singaporean cumene market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -7.3% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption recorded a deep downturn. Cumene consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cumene production rose slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. In value terms, China ($X) remains the key foreign market for cumene exports from Singapore, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 0.9% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average cumene export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 54% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) stood at $X per ton.

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of cumene decreased by -92.4% to X kg in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a sharp descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 28,620% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, cumene imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 18,471%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
