Exports by Country
Hong Kong SAR (X units), China (X units) and Malaysia (X units) were the main destinations of electronic chip exports from Singapore, together comprising 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Vietnam, the United States, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Netherlands, Germany and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for electronic chips exports from Singapore, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +9.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+3.8% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.5% per year).

In 2021, the average electronic chip export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 9% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electronic chip export price increased by +97.3% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 16% against the previous year. In 2021, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) constituted the largest electronic chip supplier to Singapore, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, electronic chip imports from Taiwan (Chinese) exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Korea (X units), with a 14% share.
