The Singaporean market for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines declined to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -9.7% against the previous year. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a noticeable setback. Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 85%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 200% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Malaysia (X tons) was the main destination for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports from Singapore, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X tons), with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Malaysia stood at +90.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+84.7% per year) and the United States (+159.9% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exported from Singapore were Malaysia ($X), India ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 81% share of total exports. China, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and New Zealand lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
The Philippines, with a CAGR of +101.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 77% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (-18.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Singapore
After three years of decline, purchases abroad of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines increased by 51% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 93%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 250% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Jordan (X tons) constituted the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine supplier to Singapore, accounting for a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports from Jordan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X tons), twofold. Israel (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Jordan amounted to +19.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+31.2% per year) and Israel (+1.7% per year).
In value terms, Jordan ($X), Chile ($X) and Japan ($X) appeared to be the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine suppliers to Singapore, with a combined 76% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Chile, with a CAGR of +52.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -14.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 129%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
