Exports by Country
Timor-Leste (X tons), Malaysia (X kg) and Cambodia (X kg) were the main destinations of fresh chicken cut exports from Singapore, with a combined 88% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Timor-Leste (with a CAGR of +56.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Timor-Leste ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for fresh or chilled cuts of chicken exports from Singapore, comprising 46% of total exports. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 89% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brunei Darussalam (+819.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Singapore
In 2021, overseas purchases of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken increased by 19% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fresh chicken cut imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest fresh chicken cut supplier to Singapore, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, fresh chicken cut imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Thailand (X tons), with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Netherlands stood at +137.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (-18.8% per year) and Thailand (+70.4% per year).
