In 2022, the Singaporean plaster market increased by 69% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Singapore
Plaster exports from Singapore soared to X tons in 2022, increasing by 19% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 90% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, plaster exports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed perceptible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 111%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of plaster exports from Singapore, with a combined 71% share of total exports. Indonesia, Maldives, Hong Kong SAR, Vietnam and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +53.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for plaster exports from Singapore, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +42.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+10.7% per year) and Thailand (+19.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average plaster export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -13.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 220% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Singapore
After four years of decline, purchases abroad of plaster increased by 81% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed mild growth. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, plaster imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Malaysia (X tons) constituted the largest plaster supplier to Singapore, with a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, plaster imports from Malaysia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), fourfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Malaysia amounted to +4.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+0.4% per year) and China (+10.7% per year).
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), China ($X) and the UK ($X) constituted the largest plaster suppliers to Singapore, with a combined 78% share of total imports. Thailand, Germany and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
Among the main suppliers, Germany, with a CAGR of +13.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average plaster import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -18.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 69%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
