From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, medical instruments exports expanded to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main destinations of medical instruments exports from Singapore, together accounting for 34% of total exports. Indonesia, South Korea, Belgium, Australia, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Hong Kong SAR, Thailand, Japan and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 51%.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (-3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. X tons of instruments used in medical sciences were imported into Singapore; growing by 31% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
