Fiji (X tons) was the main destination for lentil exports from Singapore, with a 58% share of total exports. Moreover, lentil exports to Fiji exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (X tons), threefold. Seychelles (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Fiji totaled +71.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+32.8% per year) and Seychelles (-2.6% per year).
In value terms, Fiji ($X) remains the key foreign market for lentils exports from Singapore, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Seychelles, with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Fiji stood at +77.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+25.6% per year) and Seychelles (-2.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average lentil export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -15.7% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lentil export price increased by +51.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 36%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Singapore
In 2022, lentil imports into Singapore soared to X tons, jumping by 24% on 2021. Overall, imports showed a modest increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lentil imports expanded to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 27%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Myanmar (X tons), India (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of lentil imports to Singapore, with a combined 73% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +43.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lentils to Singapore, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Myanmar ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from India stood at +32.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Myanmar (+37.1% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-0.5% per year).

The average lentil import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -17.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
