Mango And Mangosteen Market Size in Singapore
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Singaporean mango and mangosteen market, when its value decreased by -18.6% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Exports from Singapore
In 2022, overseas shipments of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, exports posted pronounced growth. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 88% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Malaysia (X tons) was the main destination for mango and mangosteen exports from Singapore, with a 79% share of total exports. Moreover, mango and mangosteen exports to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tons), fivefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Malaysia amounted to +9.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (-4.2% per year) and Brunei Darussalam (-4.4% per year).
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the key foreign market for mangoes, mangosteens and guavas exports from Singapore, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Malaysia totaled +12.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (-1.8% per year) and Brunei Darussalam (-6.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average mango and mangosteen export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -18.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 75%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Mango And Mangosteen Imports
Imports into Singapore
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas, when their volume decreased by -13.6% to X tons. In general, total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 14%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of mango and mangosteen imports to Singapore, with a combined 91% share of total imports. Australia, China, Indonesia and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 5.6%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +33.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Australia ($X) constituted the largest mango and mangosteen suppliers to Singapore, together comprising 75% of total imports. India, China, Indonesia and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.
In terms of the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +26.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average mango and mangosteen import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 8.2%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
