Orange Market Size in Singapore
The Singaporean orange market reduced to $X in 2022, shrinking by -8.8% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, the amount of oranges exported from Singapore skyrocketed to X tons, rising by 80% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, orange exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +67.0% against 2020 indices. Malaysia (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main destinations of orange exports from Singapore, together accounting for 75% of total exports. Brunei Darussalam, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +101.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the largest markets for orange exported from Singapore worldwide, together accounting for 71% of total exports.
Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +103.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average orange export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -9.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 30%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Singapore
In 2022, supplies from abroad of oranges was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, orange imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
South Africa (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main suppliers of orange imports to Singapore, together accounting for 76% of total imports. The United States, China and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +107.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Africa ($X), the United States ($X) and Australia ($X) were the largest orange suppliers to Singapore, with a combined 69% share of total imports. Egypt, China and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +114.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average orange import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -2.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
