Malaysia (X tons) was the main destination for secateurs exports from Singapore, with a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, secateurs exports to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Thailand (X kg), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by New Zealand (X kg), with an 18% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Malaysia amounted to -11.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+38.1% per year) and New Zealand (0.0% per year).
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the key foreign market for secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears exports from Singapore, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by New Zealand, with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Malaysia stood at -10.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+37.5% per year) and New Zealand (0.0% per year).

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears, when their volume increased by 21% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 84%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, secateurs imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest secateurs supplier to Singapore, accounting for a 60% share of total imports.
