For the third consecutive year, Singapore recorded decline in purchases abroad of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations, which decreased by -3.3% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of shampoos, hair lacquers and other preparations shrank slightly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Thailand (X tons) constituted the largest shampoo, hair lacquer and other preparations supplier to Singapore, with a 32% share of total imports.
