Whey Market Size in Singapore
In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Singaporean whey market, when its value increased by 41% to $X. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) were the main destinations of whey exports from Singapore, with a combined 87% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +56.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the key foreign market for whey exports from Singapore, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 4.7% share.

The average whey export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 161% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Singapore
In 2022, overseas purchases of whey increased by 35% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Turkey (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main suppliers of whey imports to Singapore, together accounting for 45% of total imports. Germany, Canada, France, Chile, New Zealand, Poland and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +27.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Australia ($X) and New Zealand ($X) were the largest whey suppliers to Singapore, together accounting for 47% of total imports. Turkey, Germany, Chile, Canada, France, Poland and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
Chile, with a CAGR of +39.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average whey import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 21%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
