In 2022, the Slovak aircraft market increased by 25,160% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, the amount of airplanes and other aircraft exported from Slovakia reduced remarkably to X units, waning by -18.2% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, aircraft exports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 46%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

The United States (X units) was the main destination for aircraft exports from Slovakia, accounting for a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, aircraft exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X units), threefold. France (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States amounted to +17.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+3.4% per year) and France (+2.4% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for aircraft exported from Slovakia were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the United States ($X), together comprising 64% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Turkey, the UK, Austria, Lithuania, Australia, Israel, Canada, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Canada, with a CAGR of +45.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average aircraft export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 20% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovakia
In 2022, the amount of airplanes and other aircraft imported into Slovakia reduced remarkably to X units, which is down by -28.6% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 347%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aircraft imports fell significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 437% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest aircraft supplier to Slovakia, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, aircraft imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (X units), threefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -18.2%.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constituted the largest supplier of airplanes and other aircraft to Slovakia, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 5.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from South Africa totaled +39.2%.
Import Prices by Country
The average aircraft import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -50.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 207%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while the price for China stood at $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+524.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
