Apricot Market Size in Slovakia

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, apricot exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 146% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for apricot exports from Slovakia, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, apricot exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tons), sixfold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.6% share.

In 2022, the amount of apricots imported into Slovakia surged to X tons, picking up by 22% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 67%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, apricot imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 47%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2022, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest apricot supplier to Slovakia, with a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, apricot imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Greece (X tons), twofold. Spain (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy amounted to +6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+8.0% per year) and Spain (+15.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest apricot suppliers to Slovakia were Italy ($X), Spain ($X) and Greece ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 32% against the previous year.
