Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) were the main destinations of caramel exports from Slovakia, with a combined X% share of total exports. France, the UK, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, Turkey, Ireland and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Austria (+X% per year), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for caramel exported from Slovakia were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Switzerland ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by France, the UK, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, Ireland, Turkey and Belgium, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Austria (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average caramel export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. from 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovakia
In 2020, supplies from abroad of caramel increased by X% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2020, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest caramel supplier to Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total imports.
