From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, computing machinery exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of computing machinery exports from Slovakia, together accounting for 39% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +15.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 157% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+25.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof decreased by -12.8% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, computing machinery imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +59.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

The Czech Republic (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of computing machinery imports to Slovakia, with a combined 50% share of total imports. Austria, Hungary, China, Italy, Malaysia, Vietnam, the UK, South Korea and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +26.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest computing machinery suppliers to Slovakia were the Czech Republic ($X), Austria ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 46% of total imports.

In 2021, the average computing machinery import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 50% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a resilient increase. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
