Overall, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +71.5% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 37%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, dolomite exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +94.9% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of dolomite exports from Slovakia, together accounting for 99.9% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +17.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for dolomite exports from Slovakia, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.

In 2021, purchases abroad of dolomite decreased by -11.7% to X tons, falling for the fourth year in a row after six years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 832%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dolomite imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 444% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest dolomite supplier to Slovakia, accounting for a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, dolomite imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Austria (X tons), sixfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Czech Republic totaled +32.3%.

In value terms, Austria ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest dolomite suppliers to Slovakia.

In terms of the main suppliers, Austria, with a CAGR of +114.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average dolomite import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -38.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 190% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+103.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
