Egg Product Market Size in Slovakia

The Slovak egg product market fell sharply to $X in 2021, declining by -23.4% against the previous year. In general, consumption saw a slight decrease. Egg product consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, egg product exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 2,307%. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main destinations of egg product exports from Slovakia, together accounting for 78% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +95.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Romania ($X), Hungary ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest markets for egg product exported from Slovakia worldwide, together accounting for 66% of total exports.

Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 141% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +36.4% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest egg product supplier to Slovakia, accounting for a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, egg product imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Latvia (X tons), with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland amounted to +7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+18.7% per year) and Latvia (+10.2% per year).

Among the main suppliers, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +11.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average egg product import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
